The Home Office has introduced new rules for people applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (settlement) in the UK
- taking effect from 2 April 2007

Those who are planning to apply for settlement (Indefinite Leave to remain in the UK) will need to be aware of the introduction by the Home Office of new rules for applications made on or after 2 April 2007. The new rules will require applicants to pass the 'Life in the UK' test to show that they have a sufficient knowledge of language and life in the UK in order to qualify for settlement.
